The Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of Engineering has been recognized as the nation’s top engineering Ph.D. program. It is placed No. 1 in U.S. News’s 2012 rankings of Best Engineering Schools. The rankings are based on expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators measuring the quality of a school's faculty, research and students.
